Success for Scotland Excel at the GO Awards

 GO Awards Fraser Pass

Learning and development programme is 'Highly Commended' at the 2011/12 awards

Scotland Excel has been honoured for its achievements at this year's Government Opportunities (GO) Excellence in Public Procurement Awards Scotland.

The organisation's learning and development programme was highly commended in the Best Service Award category at the recent GO Awards Scotland 2011/12 event.

The award was collected by Special Projects Manager, Fraser Pass (pictured centre) who, along with his colleague Helene Holden, has been instrumental in developing and delivering this programme since its launch in January 2009.

Irene McCulloch, Head of Professional Service at Scotland Excel, said:

"We were delighted to be 'Highly Commended' in the Best Service category at this year's GO Awards for our learning and development programme. More than 1400 delegates from over 80 public sector organisations have taken part in our courses, so it is an honour to be recognised by our peers for our efforts to raise procurement capability in Scotland."

A number of Scotland Excel's partners also achieved success at this year's awards. Tayside Contracts were the winners of the Best Supplier Engagement Initiative, and Argyll and Bute Council took the award for Best Customer Engagement Initiative.

Fife Council were highly commended in the Sustainability/Corporate Social Responsibility category, while Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Councils were similarly honoured within Team of the Year.

The GO Awards Scotland, organised by BiP Solutions, are the only Awards dedicated to public procurement in Scotland. The Awards ceremony was held on 25 October at the Marriott Hotel in Glasgow.
