Scottish Procurement award national contracts for desktop and mobile computers.

Scottish Procurement has announced details of new contract arrangements  which can be used by organisations across the public sector for the purchase of desktop and mobile computers.

The contracts cover a range of personal computing devices. Hewlett Packard will supply desktop hardware requirements for personal computers, workstations, thin clients and monitors. Misco has been awarded the contract to supply Lenovo laptops and XMA Ltd will supply netbooks. Note that the agreement with Samsung, who originally had been offered the netbook lot, was terminated due to a non compliant bid.

The new arrangements offer the potential for public sector organisations to make significant savings on their IT hardware budgets, with prices up to 22% lower than previous national rates for comparable products. Pricing has been fixed for the initial 18 month duration of the contracts.

The contracts also feature an extended range of products including entry level devices, and buyers can choose from a menu of upgrades, downgrades, accessories and services according to user requirements. All products meet the latest standards for energy efficiency and environmental accreditation.

Scottish Procurement also manages a national collaborative arrangement for computer peripheral devices. This single supplier arrangement was awarded to Misco in August 2011.

Further information about Scottish Procurement's national IT hardware frameworks is available on the Scottish Government website.
