Second e-auction for mobile voice and data

Another opportunity for public sector organisations to take part in Scottish Procurement's e-auction.

Following a recent successful e-auction for mobile voice and data services, Scottish Procurement has announced plans for a second auction in March 2012.

The initial tender process was carried out in September using the Government Procurement Service Mobile Solutions framework. Suppliers were asked to compete in real time to offer the most economically advantageous bid for voice calls, SMS, voicemail and mobile data services. Organisations which participated in this competition are expected to save an average of c. 59%.

As well as financial benefits, the e-auction also provides an opportunity for organisations to streamline their mobile operations by bringing individual contracts under one agreement with the same terms and end date. The contract will run for up to four years to provide organisations with sufficient time to bring all existing agreements under the framework as individual contracts expire.

As the e-auction is being run against an existing framework, organisations are required to commit to participation in advance.  A number of organisations have already signed up, and the deadline for confirming participation is 20 January 2012.

Any public sector organisation interested in taking part should contact Julie Gordon, Senior Portfolio Specialist at Scottish Procurement.
