Scotland Excel Academy & Improvement Service scoop major award
Win at prestigious Public Service Awards
We are delighted to announce that the Scotland Excel Academy scooped the Employee Development and Skills Award at the Public Service Awards at the Scottish Parliament last night.
The award recognises the work undertaken by the Academy and the Improvement Service to develop and deliver a project management qualification that provides an effective and efficient route for local authorities to equip their staff with the tools they need to deliver end-to-end projects.
Scotland Excel Academy and the Improvement Service were joint winners of the award alongside East Renfrewshire Council, which was acknowledged for piloting an approach that was the genesis of the project.
The Project Management Professional Development Award (PDA) is a Scottish Qualifications Authority accredited qualification that is wholly tailored to the public sector environment. Candidates complete the seven-month course by combining four days in the ‘classroom’ with online learning. Guidance from experienced tutors is available throughout.
Julie Welsh, Director of Scotland Excel, said, “I’d like to warmly congratulate everyone involved. This is a great example of Scotland Excel collaborating with partners to deliver a programme that will help council staff manage transformation projects more effectively, with obvious benefits to the communities they serve.”
The Scotland Excel Academy delivers people and organisational development programmes for the Scottish public sector through an applied work-based learning methodology. For more information on the Academy, visit https://academy.scotland-excel.org.uk/
