Today we share more of the amazing acts of community kindness shown by our suppliers this year and take a closer look at those on our transport and environment portfolio.

For many suppliers it has been a challenging few months but they adapted to ensure the supply chain continued to flow and vital council services were largely unaffected.

Read on to find out more about the acts of community kindness demonstrated by our transport and environment suppliers during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Western Commercial delivered food and medicine to vulnerable people across Scotland and donated vehicles for delivering essential supplies totaling more than 130,000 free delivery miles.

Fraser C Rob, a supplier on our Grounds Maintenance framework supported the Drymen, Croftamie and Buchanan Covid-19 Support Group and cut grass in Drymen to help the local council.

Tarmac donated all suitable PPE prior to lockdown to a local care home in Lanark where two of its employees' relatives worked and donated asphalt material to a local contractor in Edinburgh to carry out essential repairs to Wester Hailes Community Centre and Coeval donated £1,000 to the Glasgow NW Foodbank.

Cooks Van Hire Ltd is supported its local community with the Christmas lights switch on by supplying free vehicle hire in addition to discount hiring for NHS and SBC key workers and Dennis Eagle advertised a council’s chosen charity on their new fleet of vehicles.

Arnold Clark Group donated several items including 20,000 disposable seat covers, safety glasses and masks and they also helped an NHS hospital by donating gym equipment to allow staff to exercise between shifts. This is in addition to 120 nine-seater minibuses, 12 vans and more than 650 cars that were all loaned for free to the NHS.

Jarvie Plant Hire donated four vehicles to Life Savers Scotland throughout the lockdown period. A number of staff took part in volunteering at foodbanks and assisting with deliveries to vulnerable and shielding people.

Sackmaker are providing funding to the Healthy n Happy Community Development Trust initiative on the south side of Glasgow, Bucher Municipal Ltd supported the local food bank and Dingbro donated PPE, seat covers and sanitiser.
