Our contract that helps Scottish councils provide furniture and furnishings to vulnerable people has won a prestigious national award.

The Domestic Furniture and Furnishings (DFF) framework was crowned winner in the ‘Sustainability’ category at the recent Scottish GO awards.

We also achieved highly commended for our indexation tool in the ‘Innovation’ category.

Councillor John Shaw, Convener of Scotland Excel, said: “Winning the Sustainability category and receiving highly commended for Innovation at the Scottish GO awards speaks volumes for the collaborative work we do to deliver innovative frameworks for Scotland’s councils, and for the value we bring to the public procurement landscape.

“Our Domestic Furniture and Furnishings framework underpins several Scottish policy aspirations and was recognised for its positive social, economic and environmental impacts.

“It is the first national framework to offer reuse furniture and white goods - ensuring good quality items are kept in circulation instead of ending up in landfill, and it is maximising the participation of local third sector organisations in supplying goods to councils. The framework is also incorporating supported businesses into the supply chain with sub-contracting commitments in place for sector, bringing opportunities for disadvantaged people.

“I’m also delighted that the indexation tool we have developed was highly commended for its innovative approach to produce a single contract and market index for each of our frameworks.

“My congratulations go to all the other Scottish GO Award winners.”

Scotland Excel has an excellent track record at the Scottish and the UK GO awards, which both celebrate excellence in public procurement.

The Scottish GO Awards ceremony took place in Glasgow on 25 October 2017.
