Sustainability action plan

Scotland Excel has set its own organisational action plan around the timescales and objectives within the national plan, and in line with our  sustainability principles.

Our achievements so far include:

  • Developing a sustainability strategy and devising policy and working procedures that reflect Scotland Excel's commitment to practicing sustainable procurement
  • Working with the Scottish Government and local authorities to produce a self-assessment tool which facilitates benchmarking against the Action Sustainability flexible framework to measure sustainable procurement practices.
  • Creating a project brief and implementing a project plan to achieve Level 3 of the flexible framework by 31st July 2011.
  • Implementing, via the sustainability workgroup, new processes, procedures and documentation that embed responsible procurement practice within the day-to-day operations of Scotland Excel
  • Helping to raising awareness of sustainability through a Communities of Practice website used by the Procurement Improvement Programme to upload and share information on sustainable procurement practice.
  • Using strategic partnerships with third parties, such as the Sustainable Scotland Network (SSN), to build knowledge and understanding through the design and delivery of appropriate training programmes.
  • Actively linking procurement officers and sustainable officers in Councils to bring together their joint expertise.
